It’s been 13 years since the Cooper family was murdered in their apartment in North Lubbock. A family friend found Tammy Cooper and her three young kids brutally murdered. There has still been no arrest in the case.
A new investigator has taken over this case recently. Police said this is a good thing that allows fresh eyes to review the evidence of this case. They hope this leads them to an arrest and answers.
“These murders were one of the most brutal that we’ve seen here in Lubbock, especially because there were three young children murdered as well as their mother,” said Lubbock Police Spokeswoman, Tiffany Pelt.
Investigators believe that Cooper knew the attacker. Police said this was one of the most gruesome crime scenes they have seen.
“It does impact our officers and investigators, especially the ones who have to process a scene like this,” said Pelt. “This was a case they will never forget. This case stuck with a lot of those officers and investigators because of the violent nature of what happened.”
Investigators on this case are still asking for the public’s help with any information someone might know about the people Cooper knew in Lubbock.
“Our number one priority is to give justice to these families. I can’t imagine what it feels like to go 13 years without having all of the answers as to what happened to this family,” said Pelt.
The investigation currently centers around a man called “Butch” who is a person of interest in the investigation. “Butch” was only described to to police as having a deep voice.
“Some people may think they have information that may not be relative but you never know what tip an investigator might need that could crack this entire case open,” Pelt said.
