She’s 84 years old.
A mother.
And coming up on 25 years as one of only four women, ever, to serve you on the Supreme Court bench.
The documentary RGB explains her “notoriety” not only as a modern Pop Icon, but as a tireless defender of women’s, and indeed, everyone’s, rights. Gloria Steinem, Bill Clinton and other notables help tell Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s legacy. Learn all about one of the most influential women in American history, only at the Alamo Drafthouse.
Flatlands Dance Theatre also celebrates the weekend with their one-time performance, Love, Your Mother: An Exploration of Motherhood through Dance. They interpret everything from the challenges of being a new mom, to being a tired mom, a hopeful mom… indeed, a good mom. It’s Friday night only at the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts. Get tickets for you and the one who gave you her everything through Select-a-Seat.
Now if your mom is not the documentary or artsy-fartsy type, take her to Life of the Party. Melissa McCarthy, who in real life has two kids, portrays a woman recently left by her decades-long and now-decadent husband. She goes back to college, at the same time as her daughter, at the same school. She celebrates her new beginning — frat boys and all — and has the time of her life; past, present and future. It’s PG-13 and runs about an hour-and-a-half. Give your mom a good laugh at the Alamo Drafthouse, either Cinemark, or Stars & Stripes.
