Updated Story Link: Driver died over the weekend from crash last week at 27th and Slide 

The following is a news release from the Lubbock Police Department:

On Monday at approximately 2:15 a.m., Lubbock police officers responded to a rollover crash with injuries in the area of 27th Street and Slide Road.

The 24-year-old male driver and sole occupant of a Dodge Stratus was taken by EMS to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries, LPD crash investigators arrived on scene to investigate the crash.

At this time, it appears the Dodge Stratus was traveling northbound in the 2700 block of Slide Road when the driver lost control and struck a boulder on the east side of the road. The car continued traveling across the sidewalk and struck two parked vehicles in a parking lot at 2801 Slide Road. Two additional parked vehicles had damage from the crash debris.

The Dodge Stratus rolled and came to a rest in the 5100 block of 27th Street.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
