For the last senior pep rally, students and administrators at Frenship High School spent weeks planning a special surprise for Maddison.
Maddison’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. In fact, she hasn’t seen many of her friends at school for months.
“On May 21, I came and picked her up from school and noticed a knot on her stomach and took her to the emergency room,” said Brandy Dickey, Maddison’s mom.
Just 10 days later, she was diagnosed with cancer.
“Ever since, it’s been a battle,” Dickey said.
On this day though, cancer was in the back of Maddison’s mind as she celebrated her dream coming true.
Maddison, along with several teachers, served as a guest judge for the spirit chant.
Maddison and her mom had no idea what was coming: a trip to Disney World.
She leaves in 61 days, and that’s not the best part.
“It’s also going to be over her birthday. because her birthday’s January 19,” Dickey said.
Mickey Mouse will no doubt have a special gift for her then.
“They make dreams come true,” Dickey said.
