Lots of people are getting ready for the Waltzing for Wishes Gala coming up at the end of March, including Starlight dancer Annabeth Smith.

Before she wows the crowd dancing with her dad, she’s getting the princess treatment for her glamour shots.

“It was my first time getting my curled, getting my hair to look like this. I love my headband,” said Annabeth.

Makeup artist Allyssa Sparks said meeting Annabeth and getting to do her hair is something she will never forget.

“I mean she just sat there just anxiously waiting to see because the mirror was so high. Once she saw that little headband with that dress, it was so fun. She was pretty much all for it. I mean when she saw those curls, her face lit up and she was all about feeling like a princess,” said Sparks.

Annabeth’s parents say she was in her element.

“She just loved it back there. She’s in her forte she’s loving it,” said Barbara Smith, Annabeth’s mom.

“She loves to dress up. She loves people,” said Shawn Smith, Annabeth’s dad.

It’s not just Annabeth who will be front and center. Eight celebrity dancers are also working on their ballroom dances for the big night. For photographers Cris and Deanna Duncan, they say donating their talents is the least they can do.

“There is a face to the person that you are helping, and it is so cool to meet the kids because they come and have lights in their eyes. When you see that sparkle in the eye, it warms your heart,” said Deanna Duncan with CJ Duncan Photography.

As these dancers work on getting rid of their jitters, Annabeth’s dad is also working on his moves.

“I don’t even know what moves I’ve got,” said Shawn Smith.
