Brody’s classmates at Legacy Elementary couldn’t wait for school to start, so they could hear all about his trip.
“That made the whole thing a different dynamic I think. Now going down the hallways he’s got all kinds of friends that ask him about the trip. It helps them to know they’re doing it for a real person,” said Chelsea Sims, Brody’s mom.
Brody and his parents were the first ones to hop on board.
“We got entered into being the family of the day at the port. He got to go on first, it was really cool,” said Sims.
The cruise, known as the “Mickey Boat” in the Sims home, left Orlando and headed for paradise.
“The Bahamas, and it was wonderful. You couldn’t even tell you were on the boat,” said Sims.
They went on several excursions, including a visit to the aquarium.
“We had a day in Atlantis. That’s where one of our excursions was. So they had the aquarium and water park and he was in kid heaven,” said Sims.
“They had sharks in there and really big fish. The sharks were underwater. He wanted to go swimming with the sharks,” said Jason Sims, Brody’s dad.
His parents had to draw the line somewhere, so instead, he got to swim with Dory.
“There was a Nemo splash pad. That was his favorite. He wanted to be in there the entire time. They had turtles, Nemo and Dory,” said Chelsea Sims.
When Brody wasn’t in the water, he was hanging out with all the characters.
“We watched Beauty and the Beast, and it was really cool. He did great. He loved every single minute of it.
“He remembers Beauty and the Beast was too loud,” said Chelsea Sims.
The whole family also got to be pirates for a day. It was a week full of unforgettable adventures.
“It was just a good time to get away and forget about everything. An option to get out and take a once in a lifetime trip,” said Jason Sims.
“No Wi-Fi or cell service. So it was just us three for the entire week. It felt so good. We’ve never had a trip ever with just the three of us. it was huge. It was the biggest dream.” said Chelsea Sims.
