Lots of kids spent the first Saturday in May selling lemonade and raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Paige Davis and her friends from Cooper knew right away which charity they were donating to.

“We were seeing all kinds of videos about it. That’s very cool in how they do that. We thought that would be a great way to give back.” said Davis, a student at Cooper.

Across town, Tra’s stand also had a line of people waiting for lemonade. This is his fourth year, and his whole family gets involved.

“Lemonade Day came to my school, and I begged my mom for Lemonade Day,” said Tra Thomas, Wish Kid.

For Tra, this fundraiser is personal.

“They gave me a wish because I have a disease called sickle cell anemia. It was hard for me to go outside and play around. We signed up with Make-A-Wish and they gave us a vacation,” said Thomas.

He’s raised thousands of dollars to help grant wishes through his stand over the years. The girls across town also earned hundreds to help other kids.
