Not only does the Ramirez Elementary School Destination Imagination team solve problems and creatively work together, the students also helped raise a lot of money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
These students spearheaded a fundraiser with Wish Week, selling T-shirts for $5 a piece. After all this hard work, they raised more than $1,800 to help grant wishes.
They chose the Make-A-Wish Foundation to give back to after hours of research.
“We researched different foundations, and we chose Make-A-Wish because we found out they gave wishes to kids with life-threatening illnesses. We thought that was a great idea,” said Elliot Hall, a student at Ramirez Elementary.
“That’s incredible how the money was collected in Lubbock for Make-A-Wish. It just goes to Lubbock Make-A-Wish, and it helps kids in that area, not different areas,” said Tinsley Drake, a Ramirez student.
“It wasn’t just helping them in the hospital and stuff like that. We liked how it was unique that they could grant a wish,” said Ramirez student Alexandria Flores.
