One special wish kid in Snyder recently learned her dream is coming true.
“Lexie is an adorable little girl. She’s happy, she’s outgoing, she’s lovable,” said Lisa Cade, Lexie’s kindergarten teacher.
When Lexie was tiny, she had to undergo several heart surgeries.
“Her aorta and pulmonary artery were basically switched, so they were basically running within their self. The holes in her heart were the only things saving her,” said Ruthie Brown, Lexie’s mom.
Her progress after surgery even wowed her doctors.
“They said we would have to stay in another month, but she had the ventilator out the day after the surgery, then the chest tubes came out. She started eating on her own and was great. So, she was sent home the week after her surgery,” said Brown.
Then, the Make-A-Wish Foundation called and said they wanted to grant her wish. She chose a playhouse.
“She told us she’d rather have a playhouse so she can have her family friends over because her friends couldn’t go on a trip,” said Brown.
Her teacher and classmates were thrilled to be able to share the wish.
“They had no idea. They know Lexie goes to the doctor, but they really didn’t realize that she has been through anything. She never lets that part of her show,” said Cade.
When the playhouse arrives, Lexie has big plans for it.
“I’m going to put all my toys and one kitchen and cook banana sauce and pizza,” said Lexie.
