One family’s closure is becoming another family’s hope this week after some answers were finally revealed in the Zoe Campos case.
A case is now developing against Carlos Rodriquez after police said he confessed to killing Campos five years ago. Now, another mother hopes that someday her daughter will be found.
Maegan Hembree went missing the same year as Zoe. Her mom, Robbie, has been searching for her every day since, and now after an arrest in the Campos case, she hopes her daughter gets the same kind of justice.
Robbie Hembree said she followed the Campos case closely after getting to know Zoe’s mom throughout the years. She said they did interviews and passed out fliers together.
“It’s a sad group to have to be a part of, but that’s where I am,” Hembree said. “I do want to tell Zoe’s family how sorry I am for them.”
Maegan went missing in February 2013. Almost six years later, her family still doesn’t know where she is.
“It’s really hard to have any hope that she’s alive at this point,” Robbie Hembree said. “We’re really just looking for some resolution and justice.”
The person of interest in Maegan’s case is Michael Todd Ramsey. He’s in prison now on unrelated charges, but he was the person last seen with Maegan before she went missing.
To convict anyone, investigators need more information.
“We can’t necessarily change what happened. But we would be able to at least let her son know what happened to his mom and hopefully have some resolution and be able to bury her,” Hembree said.
The Hembree family is hoping that just like in the Campos case, someone will come forward with new information that can lead to an arrest.
