The Texas Department of Public Safety was called to a one vehicle traffic incident on US-83 that occurred on Sunday in Hemphill County, resulting in the death of one person.
At approximately 3:04 p.m., Oscar Garcia, 38, of Garden City Kansas was traveling northbound on US-83 approximately 8 miles south of Canadian when a falling tree landed on top of Garcia’s vehicle, causing his death.
Garcia was pronounced dead on scene by Hemphill County Justice of the Peace, Larry Dunnam.
It is still being determined if high winds was the cause of the falling tree.
