Cold With Light Snow Friday: Areas of light snow will work across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains today with highs only into the teens and lower 20s across the region. The snow will end by the afternoon and we’ll start to see some gradual clearing. A very cold night is ahead with single digits and low 10s. 

Snowfall Amounts: Looks like we’re still on track for 1.00″ – 3.00″ over the far northern South Plains and the Rolling Plains, generally morth of a line from Muleshoe to Plainview to Floydada to Matador. Snowfall amounts up to 0.50″, with some isolated 1.00″ spots, is expected over the central counties including the Lubbock metro area. Snow amounts get lighter as you head south, generally below 0.50″ in these area. The far northern Permain Basin will see little, if any snow accumulation.  

Weekend Forecast: After a very cold star Saturday morning, temperatures will warm above freezing later i the day with highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s. We’ll warm into the upper 40s and lower 50s on Sunday. Overnight lows Saturday night will be in the upper 10s and lower 20s. Lows Sunday night into the lower 30s. Expect a sunny sky Saturday and Sunday and clear conditions at night.  

Next Week:  Unseasonably warm weather returns to the South Plains and the Rolling Plains next week as highs climb well into the middle and upper 60s. A few sports may flirt with 70 on Monday and Wednesday. Overnight lows in the 40s Monday night and 30s Tuesday and Wednesday night. Expect sunny to mostly sunny conditions each day and mostly clear conditions at night. It will be breezy each day.

Saturday: Sunny and warmer. Highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s with a light westerly wind.
