The Nexstar Broadcasting Group is launching it’s inaugural Founder’s Day of Caring at stations across the country on July 17.
“With June 17 being the anniversary, we set a goal of 20,000 hours of community service and the company will support that by giving every employee that registers five paid hours of time off, to do service in the community,” Chairman, President and CEO of Nexstar Broadcasting Group Perry Sook said.
KLBK and KAMC employees will volunteer at the following community outreach programs:
The South Plains Food Bank aims to end hunger, give hope and enrich lives by feeding nearly 58,000 people every year. With different programs to assist different needs, the SPFB tries to make sure everyone on the South Plains never goes without a meal.
CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates for children. CASA gives all children who have been abused or neglected the opportunity to thrive in a safe and loving environment. Volunteers will be packing toys for children to come and pick up.
The Lubbock Boys Ranch is a residential care, foster home and children’s shelter for boys who have been abused or neglected. Our volunteers will roll up their sleeves to restore and clean the ranch the boys live in.
Morris Safe House is a non-profit established to ensure the health and safety of dogs in need in the Lubbock community. Volunteers will be cleaning the dog crates, doing laundry and food prep for the dogs.
The Lubbock Dream Center is a nonprofit that helps those in need, while inspiring them to lead a better life. It also holds summer camps for kids, ministry events and other opportunities.
