Some clouds have developed late this morning across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains. There is a chance one of two of these could develop into a stray shower or thunderstorm. Otherwise, we’ll remain mostly sunny and a bit humid the rest of the afternoon and into the evening. Sunset this evening is at 9:01 p.m.
The Heat Returns Mid to Late Week: Temperatures this afternoon will be in the lower 90s, which is near-average for June 20. The heat ridge will start build back across the area by the middle and later half of the week. Highs will climb back into the upper 90s. With the high pressure in control, expect ample sunshine. Overnight lows in the upper 60s to start the week but then we’ll warm into the lower 70s the rest of the week.
Slightly Cooler This Weekend: The heat will back off some this coming weekend with highs falling back into the middle 90s. We’ll also see a few more clouds around by the weekend. Long range forecast models are still hinting at an isolated storm on Sunday.

College World Series Forecast: Texas Tech will take on Florida Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in Omaha. Temperatures will be into the middle 80s at first pitch. There is a slight chance of thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon. Otherwise it will be partly sunny. There is a slight risk for severe weather across eastern Nebraska on Tuesday.
