The 35th Cattle Baron’s Ball will be July 22 at the V8 ranch. The event raises money for the American Cancer Society to help with research and patient services.

Over the last 35 years, this one event has raised more than $5 million for cancer research. Through ticket sales, a live and silent auction and raffle tickets for a new pickup truck from the Reagor Dykes Auto Group, organizers are expecting to raise more than a quarter of a million.

Organizers have partnered with the Texas Tech Health Science Center to give funds raised at the event to to Cancer Research in Texas. The recipient of this donation is Dr. Wei Wang, who is a breast cancer researcher.

Chairman Keith Patrick said this year’s donation is special because it is local.

“Our restricted gift which will be $75,000 to $100,000 this year and we will ask for those donations at the ball from our attendees,” Patrick said. “Those will go directly to a researcher right here in West Texas. We love to see the great things that are happening right here in our home town make such a huge impact on this disease that we are all fighting against.”
