On Friday, September 22 Alström Angels invites the community to ‘Shop for a Cause’ at J Hoffmans to help raise awareness for Alström Syndrome.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., 15% of each Kendra Scott purchase will go directly toward Alström Angels.
Alström Syndrome is a rare, hereditary genetic disorder that affects people of all nationalities, ethnic groups and races. It is caused by a mutated gene called ALMS1. There are less than 1,000 individuals diagnosed with Alström Syndrome in medical history.
Those living with Alström can experience a experience a variety of symptoms ranging from mild to moderate hearing loss, liver dysfunction and failure, learning difficulties, seizures, scoliosis and more.
