An End To 99 Days Without Rain Leaves Local Farmers Hopeful

After 99 days with no precipitation Lubbock finally received some rain.

“It was needed badly very badly. Its good. It smells better and everyone had a little better attitude today,” Scott Harmon, a local Farmer said.

Harmon said the minimal precipitation had affected not only his farming but also his livestock.

“We need moisture for the wheat to come in. The cattle are suffering. The wheat is deciding if it wants to live or die and we need moisture to get ready for our next crop,” Harmon said.

Harmon said their about 90 days out from planting for their next crop. Even with the small amount of rain Lubbock saw he said they’re looking forward to a lot more.

“I don’t have a rain dance. Maybe I should learn one and all our problems would be solved,” Harmon said.
