With the fall season comes pumpkins, hay-rides and of course, the corn maze. At’L Do Farms, located just north of Lubbock at 6323 FM 1294, is ready to welcome you and your family beginning September 15 through November 10.

Patti and James Simpson, owners of At’L Do Farms, are former corn farmers and are excited to open the doors for this new season.

“This is our 18th season to do the corn maze and this year our design is a tribute to our veterans, and it says we salute our veterans. We’re really excited about this year’s design and we’re ready for this season,” said Patti Simpson. “September 15 is our grand opening we open at 10 a.m., and we’ll be open all day long until 9 p.m. We have all our activities going on. The main one being the corn maze and then our little maze for kids called fairy-tale trails. We’ll have our cow train going. We have barnyard animals, and our corn cannons, hay-rides to the pumpkin patch and we also have our food out here.”

Every year, there is a different theme that is incorporated into the design of the corn maze, as well as the decorations inside the farm. This year’s theme is dedicated to veterans and active military members who are proudly serving our country.

On Sunday, September 16, more than 20 veteran organizations are coming together to educate children and the community.

“Some of our guys will come out, even some of our World War II veterans. This is a celebration of our veterans. There’s going to be a lot of other organizations out here like the VW, the American Legion, and the Vet Stars, with numerous demonstrations going on,” said Larry Williams, Veterans Liaison Co-Chair Texas South Plains Honor Flight.

There will be a 21-gun salute, the color guard and several demonstrations, including folding the flag and properly disposing of the flag. So, for those who have a flag that may need to be disposed of, you’re asked to bring it with you and veterans will show you the proper way to dispose of it.

And, if you are a veteran, you’re encouraged to bring your photo to be included in the wall of honor.

At’l Do Farms is open to the public. Admission is free from all vets and children four years of age and under. General admission tickets cost $10 and include entrance to the corn maze, fairytale trail, a hayride, the cow train, corn cannon and the barnyard.
