Sheriff’s deputies found Katrina Castillo’s body last week in an East Lubbock home and the beauty school she attended is helping honor her memory. Vogue College of Cosmetology is doing that by making a donation to her family and holding a memorial tomorrow in her name.

“Somebody once told me even out of the worst situation you have to believe something good is going to come out of it,” said Priscilla Lozano, Vogue College Student.

‘Keep on shining Glitterdoll’ are a few words that keep these beauty school students going after losing one of their own.

“She was definitely a big part of this family even though she was really small,” said Danny F, Vogue College Student.”

Katrina Castillo was only 20 years old when her life was taken from her.

“From the time she came into school she brightened up all of our lives. She was amazing,” said Vogue College student, Melissa Lopez.

That’s why on Friday her classmates and friends want to donate 100% of the money they make to her family. A donation they know she would have wanted.

“She was our Glitterdoll. She was always full of life and full of love and always happy. You couldn’t be mad around her,” said Danny.

“We love you Katrina. You will be missed dearly and we’ll keep praying for your family,” said Lozano.

Castillo was planning to graduate in October, but her death isn’t stopping them from giving her a well-deserved graduation from cosmetology school.

“We’ll also be doing a balloon release along with presenting a diploma to Katrina’s mom and dad’s family for her completion of cosmetology program here at Vogue,” Danny said.

Vogue will also be holding a raffle with several hair products, hot tools, and gift certificates for men and women.

The raffle is open to the public and you can buy a $10 ticket from Vogue at 1712 34th Street.

They will also be selling T-shirts for $20.
