Beer lovers rejoice!

LUBBOCK, Texas — Governor Greg Abbott signed into law Senate Bill 1232, which allows retailers to deliver wine and beer to directly to homes.

Still on Abbott’s desk, House Bill 1554, which would let customers go to local breweries, and take beer home with them.

Two Docs Brewery partner, Eric Washington, said Texas is the only state that does not allow customers to take beer home from breweries.

“We get so many social media contacts asking when is it going to happen,” Washington said. “They want to take our beer to go, and they can do it at breweries in every other state in the country, so they’re just sitting with the growlers waiting.”

Washington said if this law is implemented come September 1, they would be ready to serve.

“There’s not a lot to add in logistically to what we’re doing right now,” Washington said. “We just can pack beer up here for our customers to take home with them.”
