A pickup truck came to a quiet neighborhood, and stole a trailer right out of a family driveway in South Lubbock, Monday morning.

“I was thinking that maybe my mom had used it, but then when I called her and she said no, that’s when I started panicking,” said Shabria Martin, victim of the stolen trailer.

Martin ran over to her next door neighbor’s house, and asked if they had seen what had happened. Only then did she realize that they had caught the whole thing on their surveillance tape.

“We went over the footage, and you can see this guy get out and pick up my trailer and just drive away,” said Martin. ‘What makes me even more upset is that it even happened in broad daylight.”

The stolen trailer was going to be used by the family as a food truck trailer. It had been a childhood dream for Anthony Martin, Shabria’s husband, and was going to put his catering service on wheels. Now that dream has been put on halt as police are looking for the suspect.

“They didn’t even try to see if they could buy it, they just stole it,” said Martin. “That trailer was supposed to be used for something, something that some had always wanted since he was little.”

Although Martin is relieved that the whole incident was caught on camera, it has left her, and her family, on edge, since what happened to her could happen to anyone.

“When I moved into this neighborhood, I was thinking that it would be a really good fit for us, but I guess you really can’t judge a neighborhood, I mean just look what happened to us,” said Martin.
