Life-saving medication was returned to an 8-year-old and his family Friday after a suspected thief was arrested for an unrelated charge.

Henry Nicholson’s medication, which cost $3,000 a month, was stolen off his family’s front porch in early October.

The Nicholsons’ Ring doorbell caught the entire theft on video, and they contacted the Lubbock Police Department for help finding the suspects.

After taking to Facebook and other social media, several people identified the suspect by a tattoo on her chest.

On Friday, Lubbock Police arrested 33-year-old Virginia Amaya for an outstanding parole violation warrant for burglary of a habitation.

After the arrest, police were able to return the stolen medication to the Nicholson family.
“All four injections are in there. I am just so excited. I never thought I would see it again,” Charla Nicholson, Henry’s mother, said.

Charla said police contacted her and stated they had found the medication during the arrest of Amaya. Police said she was arrested on unrelated charges to this case.

“I am appreciative she told police where the medication was. I hope from now on she can make better choices,” Charla said.

A representative for the Lubbock Police Department said the theft case involving the medication is still being reviewed by the District Attorney’s Office.
