ATV’s can be a dangerous tool, but there are a lot of safety precautions you can take. Pit Stop Cycle Shop owner Jerry Martin wants you to remember these tips when riding any machine.

“Parental supervision, especially for younger kids.,that’s number one.” said Jerry Martin.

He said he always briefs a customer on safety before buying any kind of bike.

“For a kid that hasn’t ever ridden much or a young kid, this is his first time going to ride a motorized vehicle like this, you need to start them off slowly. Make sure you can adjust the throttle so they can’t go full speed immediately and let them gain experience slowly,” Martin said.

With any machine, there is always the possibility of someone getting hurt because it’s easy to lose control of an ATV or even a 4 Wheeler.

“That’s part of the thing. You go to turn in sharp and get hit with another vehicle. There’s a turn over possibility with all 4 Wheelers,” said Martin.

Helmets, riding boots, and a safety wrist strap are also some things you can do to be safe.
