Last week, Montes & Son’s Tire Shop in Sudan was destroyed by a fire. They’re the only tire shop in Sudan so a lot of people depend on them.
“The restaurant next door belongs to my uncle. This belongs to one of my uncles. Our family does a lot of self employment stuff. It´s huge for us. It´s something we don´t..this is what we do,” said Vince Montes, one of the managers of the tire shop.
This fire left the managers out of thousands of dollars and nothing in the shop will be usable. Right now, they’re working out of a mobile trucking hoping to get back on their feet soon.
“It’s huge for us. It´s something we don’t..this is what we do,” said Montes.
They’ve been opened for three years and Montes said they’re the only tire shop in town. A lot of folks in that area depend on them.
“We do Sudan ISD, we do the city of Sudan, the fire department, we do the police department of Sudan,” Montes said.
He said they’ll be working out of their mobile truck and they hope this will make some money in the mean time.
“There’s a lot of little deals that we take care of and it makes it hard when they gotta go somewhere when they need it and unfortunately we’re down right now. Makes it harder for us to keep going,” Montes said.
