Fans of Texas Tech baseball packed Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park for the season opener Friday against the University of Maine.
“He told my counselor that he was pulling me out of school and we were going to a Tech baseball game,” 11-year-old Trevor Waldmann, a fan who attended the game all thanks to his dad who pulled him out of school.
A group of dads and their kids said they all played hooky to see the No. 3 nationally ranked team.
“It’s a special bond between me and my kids. Their mother supports it. She’s never had any issues with me pulling them out for this,” Phillip Waldmann, Trevor’s dad, said.
