Lubbock police are moving forward with assault charges following the discovery of a video from December 26th that went viral. It shows a daycare worker at My Little Playhouse Learning Center on 50th st. holding a three-year-old girl by her hair. The daycare says the workers involved were fired the day the video surfaced.
After some investigation, KLBK found a number of risks that Texas Department of Family & Human services says are high risks, including: on multiple occasions workers at the daycare not knowing how many children were in the facility. Another violation mentioned the workers not having awareness of the children, resulting in an injury.
We wanted to know what the requirements are to become an employee at a daycare in the state of Texas. We spoke with Lena Scaff the Director of Early Learning Centers of Lubbock to find out what parents should be looking for.
- Childcare experts recommend visiting the daycare often both before and after enrolling your child at various times of the day.
- Checking the Department of Health and Human Services website Click here for past violations.
- And look out for daycare employees who don’t communicate with you.
