The local vintage shop, Gypsy Aged Junk, located off of FM 179 was ransacked by a group of people this week. Owner Jennifer Taylor said she knows exactly who is responsible but she doesn’t plan on seeking revenge, pressing charges, or confronting them.

“It was several different people they just came in and trashed the place, ” Taylor said. “It’s hard to look at it like this, it’s everything I’ve wanted, it’s everything I’ve driven myself for.”

Working endless hours day in and day out for over a year, Taylor said she has always envisioned herself having a shop like this one since she was a little girl. Working a corporate job, with a major in architecture, she decided to follow her heart and open up her own store.

“Everything was made better back then,” Taylor said. “I have been junking since I was two. I stole the change off my dad’s dresser and went across the street and bought a sock and a lunch box.”

She said she has always been the kind to try to see the good in everyone, constantly giving out second chances, and she said sometimes she would even let people sleep in the apartment attached to the shop if they were down on their luck. She said she knows exactly who is responsible for the damage.

“If anyone was going through hard times or anything they could stay here,” Taylor said. “I’m just going to be forgiving, and I’m trying to just clean up and move on to bigger and better things.”

She is currently opening a new shop in Childress, and hopes to be cleared out of the Lubbock location within a few days.
