Habitat for Humanity is opening a new store on Indiana Avenue. The Restore accepts gently used donations of furniture and home decor to be sold at discounted prices. The money is used to help build affordable homes in Lubbock each year.
The store will be open in mid-August but is currently accepting donations. You can schedule a pick up of donations by calling 806-763-4663.
“Anyone can come and shop,” said the executive director of Lubbock’s Habitat for Humanity, Marie Hanza. “We take those funds that we make, the profit, and we use those to operate our programs as we continue to build affordable housing in Texas.”
For nearly three decades, Lubbock’s chapter of Habit for Humanity has provided affordable homes to more than 450 people.
Hanza hopes people shop at the Restore before going to other stores.
“I would encourage you to shop at a Restore whether you’re doing it in Lubbock, Texas or anyplace else,” Hanza said. “You want to support the community and you want to support affordable housing in that community.”
They hope the second store will help them build more houses for Lubbock families in the future.
“We have to provide stability, self-sufficiency and resources for the families that are coming into the program, and we can do that with the help of the Lubbock community,” she said.
