The High Point Village is a place for people with special needs to reach their full potential. The 7th Annual ‘A Storybook Gala’ will be held at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center on Nov. 2.
This event is High Point Village’s biggest fundraiser of the year. There will be live music, shopping, dinner and an opportunity to meet with the villagers.
High Point Village is hoping to raise enough funds to expand their facilities and add more villagers to their programs. There are more than 8,000 people with special needs in the Lubbock area and High Point Village hopes to reach those people in the near future.
“We are just now skimming the surface of the amount of people that we can be serving with special needs and we want to expand our reach,” Marissa Trevino, Communications Coordinator at High Point Village said.
Cathy Smith, the mother of a villager, said people with special needs sometimes struggle with not feeling a part of the community and High Point Village has given them a place to find their purpose.
“We moved here so my daughter could participate in the activities at High Point Village and it has changed our life for not only my daughter and our family,” Smith said.
High Point Village is always looking for volunteers. It is easy to get involved with High Point Village by going online to highpointvillage.org.
