Plainview residents are experiencing increased burglaries with the robbers targeting firearms and expensive electronics. Captain Manuel Balderas with Plainview Police said the thieves are coming in from out of town.

“We don’t know exactly where they’re staying at. We believe that they have set up shop here in Plainview and may have been  burglarizing these houses,” said Balderas.

According to Plainview Police, the amount of burglaries they are seeing is more than normal.

With the burglary spike starting in November, they said the problem is happening in West Plainview near I-27. Police believe the people responsible for this are coming in from out of town and they’ve added more patrols in the area.

“Make sure that they secure their doors. Always secure their doors. Believe it or not, we’re a small community. People leave their doors unlocked,” said Captain Manuel Balderas with the Plainview Police Department. “They’ll leave their garage door opened. They’ll leave it opened enough that they’ll have their pet go in and out, but also someone can squeeze in underneath that garage door.”

If you have information that could help Plainview Police find the people doing this, call the Plainview Hale County Crime Stoppers at (806) 293-8477 to give an anonymous tip.
