Judge Jorge Hernandez teamed up with the Family Promise of Lubbock to create a new court system to help the homeless members of the Lubbock community when it came to paying for misdemeanor offenses and warrants.
“The biggest obstacle for their arrest is there is a warrant because they haven’t shown up because if there is a warrant they’re afraid they will get arrested,” Judge Hernandez said.
“It was hindering them from getting a job or get the other things they need,” Doug Morris, the Executive Director for the Family Promise of Lubbock said.
