Homeless Working To Keep Cool For The Summer

Paul’s Project- Grace Campus, is a homeless housing community located in east Lubbock that hosts several locals who just need a little time to get back on their feet. The community provides a free ‘tiny home’ living arrangement for the members.

The only downside is the ‘tiny homes’ don’t have air conditioning and with recent temperatures being in the triple digits members have been looking to other resources to keep cool.

“It’s not like Phoenix or anything but it felt dang close. We do with the best with what we can,” Chris Moore, the Executive Director of Grace Campus said.

Several of the residents of the community said they appreciate all Grace Campus does for them but with the heat they have to be in and out of their homes.

“It’s very hot. So I have to deal with this, this is what I have to deal with. The heat. As long as I’ve got food, I’m okay,” Kathy Ann Lewis, a resident of Grace Campus said.

“It’s scary you know if you stay under the mist or stay in the shade. You have to take breaks when you work and stuff like that trying to keep fluids in you carry a cloth. That’ll keep you cool make you feel alive,” Rhea Moon, another resident of Grace Campus said.
