With recent rain you may notice your lawn is a bit greener. It’s something that also has local lawn companies seeing a different kind of green.
Michael Garcia, Partner of True Scapes Lawn Pros, told us, “Usually when we get yards that have lots of mud we put them off. We will put them off a couple of days until it dries and if it doesn’t dry we can’t get to it.”
Trying to mow a wet lawn is not only very hard on the equipment but slows down their work time.
Garcia explained, “This yard is a little dry but it’s still wet a little, as you can see I was having problems with the picking up. I was having to go back and forth, usually yards like this we’d be zipped out in about ten-fifteen minutes.”
The rain doesn’t just make the grass grow.
Ty Johnston, Owner of True Scapes Lawn Pros, said, “Due to the warm winter we had is why we have all the weeds sprouting up everywhere, because the winter usually kills out a lot of the weeds in the lawns and that has been a big problem this year because the weeds have been over taking lawns. We knocked out a job with weeds taller than the house so it’s pretty tough. The rain does impact our business quite a bit but we got to come out and get it anyways.”
While the rain may bring up the weeds and put back the mowing, it’s great for landscaping. It helps soften up the dirt making it much easier to plant.
Johnston elaborated, “Due to the rain we’ve been doing a lot of landscapes out in Llano Estates and around the surrounding areas. Big jobs and thing about my company, we’re only two or three. There’s only two or three of us, we don’t run crews. We get it done.”
The rain may mean more work but all in all it’s a vital part of the business.
Garcia expressed, “We’d like to just thank God for all the rain we do get because rain means new customers. Thank God for the rain and also the weeds.”
