Jose Simental Charged With Connection To A Local Murder Is Now Up For Parole

Jose Simental, who was charged with tampering with evidence in the case of Mark Anthony Ysasaga’s murder, is now eligible for parole.

Anna Ysasaga, Mark’s mother, said she was shocked when she heard the news that he could get out of prison early.

“I don’t think it’s fair he has a normal life and my son doesn’t. At least give him six years,” Anna said.

Simental was sentenced to seven years in prison. Anna said he should complete the whole time behind bars, especially because he knew where Mark’s body was during the three-year search.

“If he can hide a body for three years and not say anything, what else has he done that nobody knows?” Anna said.

Simental was denied parole in May 2017. The final decision will be made by a judge in May 2018 to see if he will remain behind bars or be released.
