The Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation and First United Bank are proud to present, An Evening with Josh Abbott Band, on Saturday, April 6 at the United Supermarkets Arena. Doors open to the public at 7:00 p.m.
“It’s always an honor to support the Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation in a town close to my heart,” Abbott said. “But this year is extra special for us to be headlining the stage at Texas Tech, my alma mater. Guns up!”
Watson returns to Lubbock this April having sold out shows all across the country. Thanks to its inherently upbeat and singable material, Josh Abbott Band has become one of the leading acts in Texas music, winning four trophies in the inaugural Texas Regional Radio Awards. But JAB has national cred to boot – it’s landed three singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart – including “Oh, Tonight,” the first charted track to feature Grammy-winning Kacey Musgraves – and nabbed a Top 10 album with the 2012 release, Small Town Family Dreams, and reached No. 12 with the 2014 EP, Tuesday Night. The six-piece ensemble released its most ambitious project to-date with the 2015 album Front Row Seat, a song cycle that follows a relationship from first meeting through its euphoric rise to a difficult breakup and contemplative aftermath.
“We are thrilled to have Josh Abbott Band performing on behalf of the students and teachers of the Lubbock-Cooper Independent School District. The Foundation has been working toward this event for almost a year,” said Mickey Rogers, local business owner and chairman of the Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation. “It is an honor to have someone of this caliber perform in honor of the Lubbock-Cooper family.
General admission tickets are available for $30, $25 and $20 at www.SelectASeatLubbock.com. Reserved tables on the floor are available by calling, (806) 789-4009. Tables seat eight or 10 guests and include a catered meal and full bar during the concert.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation and their mission to generate funds to provide grants for LCISD educators as well as scholarships for outstanding graduating seniors. Since its inception in 2013, the Foundation has awarded more than $318,000 in grants for LISD teachers and $183,000 in student scholarships. The Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation is a partnership of public education advocates seeking to invest in the youth of the Lubbock-Cooper community.
