Thousands of people fled Mackenzie Park on July 4th when the fireworks were canceled and storms made their way through the Hub City.
Bart Reagor and Don Caldwell met at the Reagor Dyke’s Auto Group Headquarters on Avenue J to announce the firework show has been rescheduled for July 16th. Live music will start at 7:00 p.m., and the fireworks show will begin at 10:00 p.m..
“You know the battle of independence went on for a long time and it wasn’t just one night, so we can have our firework show another night, people can come out and do it another night, it doesn’t have to be on the fourth,” Reagor said.
Jay Boy Adams will be headlining accompanied by a handful of other Lubbock artists. Don Caldwell said they are thankful they got insurance on all the fireworks, and that Western Enterprises is providing them with fireworks that didn’t get used in a show in Oklahoma.
“The actual fireworks here were totally ruined by the storm, flooded everything, unusable, so that company has volunteered to bring everything in short notice,” Caldwell said.
The initial choreographed firework show was planned to go off to the Lubbock Youth Symphony but Caldwell said they plan to use that show next year.
“There was a lot of work that went into it, so we are going to save it for next year,” Caldwell said. “Instead we are having a new show with new music,”
