It all started back in April of 2017 when Kim Dalby attended a Garth Brooks concert in Lubbock.

“I held up my sign that said #AskMeHowI’mAPrizeFighter,” Kim Dalby said, back in April of 2017.

The sign caught the eye of Trisha Yearwood, Brooks wife, who then stopped the concert to ask Kim why?

“So she stopped and asked me how I am a Prize Fighter. I told her I have stage four cancer. It isn’t curable but I am not going to stop having fun,” Kim said back in April of 2017.

From there on Kim and Yearwood formed a friendship.

Kim passed away May 13, 2018.

“We will have times that are incredibly hard. We must lean on each other and aspire others around us to be okay,” Michael Dalby, husband of Kim said.

Yearwood recorded a version of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” which was played at Kim’s service.

“Celebrities do so much behind the scenes. She really promotes doing things with people with cancer, which is nice because it’s a scary deal,” Kim said back in April of 2017.

Kim is survived by her husband, two children, mother, father and sister.
