If you head into a Red Raider Outfitter, you might notice that most of the Kliff Kingsbury merchandise is already gone as fans are coming in and out of the store to honor the coach.
“We are not dumping the merchandise by any means,” said Katie Hartman, lead buyer at Red Raider Outfitter. “Ever since he’s been gone I would say his products are now becoming a collector’s item.”
Hartman says nearly everything with Kingsbury’s name attached to it has been sold out, as the supply for Kingsbury merchandise is already limited at the coach’s request.
“He came out and specifically requested to the university that the focus be about the team,” said Hartman. “He didn’t want items with just his name. He didn’t want everything to just be about him.”
However, this isn’t stopping people from coming in to buy that last jersey as fans are saying goodbye to the coach.
“There’s a lot of mixed emotions about him leaving, but we are excited about what his future looks like,” said Hartman. “He’s family here at the store, the city and the university as well.”
