On Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14, Lubbock Animal Services and KLBK News will be teaming up for the 2018 Save-A-Pet Adopt-A-Thon at the Lubbock Animal Shelter.
Cats and dogs, young and old, will be up for adoption for $30, versus the usual $60. Plus, free microchipping will be available for your new addition as well as for your pet at home. If you do plan on bringing your pet to the event for free micro-chipping, make sure to also bring their rabies certificate.
The goal for this weekend: clear out the shelter by uniting as many pets with their forever families as possible.
Kia Riemath, assistant director of Lubbock Animal Services, shared the last few weeks have been especially busy, but that it’s well worth it to see dogs and cats leave the shelter into the arms of their new owners.
“Oh my gosh, we’ve just had so many changes in the last 6 weeks, positive changes. We’re getting so much support from the community, oh it’s just been so great. We’ve had such an outpouring,” Riemath said. “We’ve got lots available, a lot that want to go home.”
The Adopt-A-Thon kicks off Friday at noon-5 p.m., and starts back up again Saturday, noon- 3 p.m.
Be sure to bring a valid I.D.
Looking ahead, on Sunday, Lubbock Animal Services will also be holding an Open House for rescues and anyone who is interested in fostering.
