KSSL will host their 5th annual South Plains Honor Flight Radiothon on April 13th from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Elk’s Lodge off 34th Street and Milwaukee Avenue.

Radio owner and general manager, Cathy Whitten and veteran and radio personality T David Whitley say they hope this years radiothon is the biggest yet.

“We just need everyone to come together like we always do and give what they can,” said Whitten.

“It is the ultimate sacrifice them serving our country and providing the freedoms that we have, so I feel we should give back.”

The price tag to send a veteran on the flight is $1,600 and Whitten says every cent counts.

“All of this day is about getting the South Plains aware and putting money together to get veterans on the flight of a lifetime to Washington D.C. so taht we on the South Plains can say, ‘Thank you,’ to those veterans that stood on this wall from World War II, Korea, Vietnam and all the conflicts that have followed,” said Whitley.
