Lake Alan Henry is the largest body of water near Lubbock, and locals in the area said it is also one of the best spots to fish.
“It’s a great fishing lake. Probably one of the top 10 black bass lakes in the United States,” Mike Burk, owner of Lake Alan Henry Lodges, said.
Burk said one thing about Lake Alan Henry is the freshness of the water.
“Anyone who has ever been to a lake in West Texas has pretty much been in a mud hole. This lake is clean and clear water. It’s a big river lake and a great place to go swimming. It smells like jumping in a rain barrel,” Burk said.
Burk said fishing season at the lake usually starts mid-May until June. He said once summer rolls around, it becomes a lot about water sports.
