Levelland woman Jan Simnacher is planning to take legal action against “The Dog Shoppe” after she said they lost her schnauzer mutt “Slipknot” exactly one month ago. She said the workers told her that while they were vacuuming, a customer came in and left the door open, and Slipknot got scared and ran out.
“She was just loose, we don’t know which way the dog went and I initially thought she was just hiding inside the place somewhere but they couldn’t find her anywhere,” Simnacher said.
Simnacher has created a Facebook page “Justice for Slipknot” as well as a petition and is also offering a $200 reward for whoever finds her.
“I’ve had several people call that don’t even care about the reward they just want to help, I am a senior citizen and that is my child,” Simnacher said.
Other customers like Mary Engledow say nothing like this has ever happened and it was an accident that happened on a busy afternoon. Engledow said it’s obvious the groomer has a genuine care for animals.
“She takes in foster dogs and she will work until 10 or 11 at night taking care of them, I couldn’t imagine this place closing down, it would devastate not only my dogs but the community,” Engledow said.
Crystal Howard with Levelland Animal Control said they saw Slipknot Tuesday night but that she got scared and ran away during the storm.
“I holler ‘Slipknot!’ and she looked right at me and then there was thunder and lightening and she ran away,” Howard said. “We continued on foot running after her for about 20 minutes and we couldn’t catch her,”
The owner, Jan Simnacher is encouraging anyone with information to contact her: #806-790-8860, message her Facebook page, or contact Levelland Animal Control.
