The Lubbock County Emergency Operation Center trained Wednesday for a long-term electrical outage.

“100 years ago people didn’t depend on electricity. But today, we need it,” Clinton Thetford, Lubbock County’s emergency management coordinator, said.

The training took about four hours, and groups were challenged by a series of questions and different scenarios they had to answer.

“It gives us a chance to come in and work together. If we didn’t have internet access, it lets us look at how we would function as a county government given these circumstances,” Thetford said.
