The West Texas Home Builders Association and the Lubbock Homes For Heroes teamed up to surprise local Army veteran Michael Vasquez and his family.
“I’m kinda at a loss for words. I’m just thankful. This is a huge blessing,” Vasquez said.
The home will be designed by Vasquez and his family and will be completely wheelchair accessible.
“The accessibility of the house, things like lower countertops, bigger doorways, grab bars and sidewalks. These are things you don’t think about when you’re walking,” Vasquez said.
The home is expected to be built within the next year.
Vasquez asked the public to be aware of their veterans struggling once they are back from combat. If you or someone you know is looking to help, please contact VETSTAR.
