Officers at the Lubbock Police Department, alongside other law enforcement agencies, have the benefit of a Chaplaincy Program to help deal with the issues they face daily.

“We try and have training where we get together and get more familiar with each other so they know if there is an issue they can reach out to us,” Lt. Keith Woodard, with the Lubbock Police Department said.

Lt. Woodard said this program is not only for the officers but also for their families at home.

“There isn’t a moment when were apart that I don’t worry about his safety and what he can get involved in,” Lori Martinez, wife of local Law Enforcement Officer.

LPD said this program is there to help officers understand the horrific and unimaginable scenes they see on a daily basis.

“That brothership is something that is beyond what we would know as a spouse. They’ve gone through stuff we never could understand and we need to support that as well,” Martinez said.
