A flight to a new life. Dozens of dogs, saved from death row were picked up in Hobbs, New Mexico by the non-profit “Dog is My Co-Pilot.”
“These dogs are being taken off of death row. They are coming from the street and kill shelters so they have no other chance,” Gina Beard, Owner and Founder of Denver City Animal Transport.
Beard alongside several other independent rescues across West Texas and New Mexico pull dogs from high kill shelters and off the streets. They then vet the dogs, socialize them and get them ready for adoption.
“You gotta love the animals. You have to help them when no one else is going to help. You have to step up and do it,” Beard said.
Local rescues have teamed up with the non-profit “Dog is My Co-Pilot” to help bring more dogs, via flight, to rescues in Colorado and Utah.
“I have rescues back home and it brings me joy. So I am trying to add to the solution because so many people are part of the problem,” Peter Rork, Founder and Pilot of “Dog is My Co-Pilot” said.
Due to extreme overpopulation of dogs in this area DIMC has agreed to make a trip each month.
