The following is a press release from the Lubbock Police Department:
The Lubbock Police Department is investigating an altercation that led to shots fired in the 2400 block of East 10th Street Wednesday night. At this time, the suspect has not been located.
Officers responded to the area just after 8 p.m. for reports of neighbors getting into a fight. Officers were told one of the males went inside a home, came back with a gun and fired multiple shots toward a group of neighbors. No one was injured during the shooting, but a vehicle was struck. Officers were advised the male suspect then went back inside the home.
As a safety precaution, officers immediately set up a perimeter and evacuated nearby homes. Officers were also given information that children were in the home where the suspect was believed to be hiding.
Additional patrol officers, K9 Units, SWAT officers and negotiators arrived on scene to attempt to make contact with the suspect. LPD negotiators made multiple attempts to reach out to the suspect in various ways with no success.
After several hours with no response, SWAT used the BEAR, an armored vehicle, to remove the screen door of the house to allow the Bomb Squad’s robot to enter.
The robot, equipped with cameras, allowed investigators to safely search parts of the home. Around midnight and after further investigation, SWAT officers entered and cleared the house. The suspect was not located.
At this time, LPD is scaling back the response in the area. Officers will maintain a presence in the area throughout the night.
This case will remain under investigation and officers will continue to search for the male suspect.
