Lubbock Animal Services has proposed a big change to its policy, all in hopes of getting more pets adopted.
“So, it’s a fully ready adoptable pet for $30,” Steven Green, with Lubbock Animal Services, said.
Green said the $30 includes a rabies shot, all the original vaccines and a spay-and-neuter voucher. LAS said this is the most feasible option to get the pets adopted.
“You don’t want to make it too hard, but you don’t want to have someone not have an investment. You want the owners to have a love and respect for the animals. Our goal is truly to get as many pets new homes as we possibly can,” Green said.
LAS said they are proposing the adoption rate to go from $60 to $30. The decision will not be finalized by the City of Lubbock until its September meeting.
