Is a puppy on your Christmas list? If so, Lubbock Animal Services wants to make sure you’re ready for the holiday season.
“If you’re giving a pet for a present make sure they are wanting a pet and ready to take care of a pet,” Deaon Bryant, Shelter Supervisor for Lubbock Animal Services said.
Bryant said it’s important for those looking to bring a pet into the family to research what type of breed they want and what their energy level could be.
“Make sure of your lifestyle and your activity level match that with the animal you’re choosing,” Bryant said.
During the holiday season it isn’t uncommon to have people over at your homes. Bryant said pet owners should be aware that these parties can become overwhelming to some pets.
“Also keep in mind, when you’re taking an animal from a shelter, rescue or even purchasing them, taking them into a new environment is scary for them. If you add a bunch of people and bunch of noise, it can be scary,” Bryant said.
LAS is still taking donations for the homeless pets in our community. If you’d like to donate they’re looking for blankets, food, toys and animal sweaters. You can drop off all donations at the shetler located off the loop.
