On Thursday, a local business owner received a little special treatment from community members, friends, and family for his dedicated service to the community.
Jimmy Rasco, owner of B&R Auto Parts, was recognized for his more than 30 years of working in the Lubbock area.
Terry Rasco, his son, and the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce teamed up to give Jimmy the ribbon cutting ceremony he never received.
“He never had a grand opening, he just kind of assumed the business, and so I wanted to give my Dad one last hoorah for all his work,“ Terry Rasco said.
JR has been the owner of B&R Auto Parts for 35 years, and has been in the auto repair business for more than 60.
However, he said he never considered himself a businessman, that those he served were more friends than customers.
“They are my friends,“ JR said. “These are the kind of guys that you just can’t buy, and we are just very lucky.“
B&R Auto Parts will be holding a sale in JR’s honor, and will have events for the rest of the week.
